<image:title>Tree Safety Assessments - Tree Safety Assessments</image:title>
<image:caption>We offer a bespoke Tree Safety Assessment service to our clients based on their individual requirements and budget. Inspections are undertaken using Visual Tree Assessment (VTA). VTA is an internationally recognised method for tree inspection which entails detailed and systematic inspection from ground level. This methodical process allows our consultants to accurately assess tree vitality and vigour, whilst highlighting any notable physiological and/or structural defects in the process. Information is recorded accurately using GIS devices, with the findings from each survey then summarised within a technical report; where applicable, appropriate remedial measures will be specified which seek to remove risk, or, reduce risk to an acceptable level. Tree risk is calculated using Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA). QTRA is an industry recognised system which enables our consultants to quantify the risk of harm from tree failure in such a way that enables landowners to balance safety with tree values. Where defects are located higher within the crown of a tree, and visibility from ground level is obscured or obstructed, our consultants are qualified to use rope access techniques in order to closer assess the significance of these. Decay Detection Assessments of internal decay can be carried out using our IML-RESI F wood testing drill. This device measures the quality of the internal state of the wood by recording the drill resistance of the needle penetrating into the tree stem. The cordless, lightweight & compact design of the IML-RESI F-Series wood testing drill is ideal for difficult operating conditions, meaning it can even be used to assess aerial defects, via rope access.</image:caption>

<image:title>Trees and Planning - Trees and Planning</image:title>
<image:caption>If trees are located within 15 m of a proposed development site, an Arboricultural Impact Assessment in accordance with BS5837: 2012 – Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction: Recommendations is likely to be required as part of the application. Our consultants are highly respected for their extensive planning experience; having forged strong rapport with many local planning authorities, we can ensure that challenges around trees can be resolved in a cost-effective way, helping to achieve viable developments. BS5837: 2012 Survey and Tree Constraints Plan At Woodsage Consulting, we strongly recommend that an arboricultural survey, to BS5837: 2012: Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction to Construction - Recommendations standard, is undertaken at the feasibility stage of a development. Using GIS software, our consultants can accurately plot trees - together with their crown spreads and root protection areas - on to a topographical plan; this Tree Constraints Plan can then be used by architects and other professionals during the design phase. Our approach minimises the risk of abortive costs, by ensuring that the constraints trees pose to a development are fully recognised from the outset.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/626a9bff445c1d0aa329e35c/008aab51-e2c5-43ec-ace0-183cf40b2ade/DSCN6581.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Trees and Planning - Arboricultural Impact Assessment</image:title>
<image:caption>Once the development proposals have been finalised, our consultants will then prepare the Arboricultural Impact Assessment. This Arboricultural Impact Assessment will analyse the impact of the proposals upon the surrounding trees at the site, identifying those trees which will be retained, those which will require further facilitative or remedial works, and those which will necessitate removal. In instances where trees are unavoidably specified for removal, bespoke mitigative measures will be included within the Arboricultural Impact Assessment, with the objective to offset any impacts upon the amenity of the site. Tree Protection Plan and Arboricultural Method Statement A Tree Protection Plan and Arboricultural Method Statement will be appended to the Arboricultural Impact Assessment, both of which will assist with the discharge of planning conditions: The Tree Protection Plan is a working document which should be made available to all construction staff during the development process, illustrating - on a scaled map - the precise location of tree protection measures. The Arboricultural Method Statement is also working document, and provides the details required to guide construction activities in proximity to trees in a realistic and responsible manner. Our consultants have extensive experience in working with other professionals and contractors, and therefore understand the logistical demands of construction traffic management and material storage. Once the Arboricultural Impact Assessment has been submitted to the local planning authority, we will continue to remain on hand, to help resolve any further arboricultural matters throughout the development process.</image:caption>

<image:title>Woodland Management Plans - Woodland Management Plans</image:title>
<image:caption>In an ideal world, a Woodland Management Plan should be devised from the day a woodland is planted, unfortunately however, this is rarely the case. ·Our Woodland Management Plans, which can be prepared for small or large-scale woodland holdings, can help to recover or even enhance the biodiversity potential of a woodland, which can often be diminished from by the ever-growing list of invasive species, pests and diseases which reside in our country. Further to this ecological and biodiversity enrichment, our Woodland Management Plans have also helped to: Protect and secure important archaeological and cultural features. Improve landscapes and water quality. Reduce the impacts of drought and flooding. Enhance sequestration of carbon. Realise the potential of our clients woodlands for recreational, educational, social and sporting activities. Woodsage Consulting have a track record of Forestry Commission approved Woodland Management Plans, which have helped to secure various avenues of external funding. Our Woodland Management Plans are dynamic documents, with the clients budget and time-scale always in mind. The recommendations included within a Woodland Management Plan can be distributed over a five-to-twenty-year period, and are devoted to the long-term preservation of the woodland in question, as well as the aims and objectives of the client.</image:caption>

<image:title>Tree Preservation Order Advice - Tree Preservation Order Advice</image:title>
<image:caption>A TPO prohibits the removal or pruning of the subject tree without the prior consent of the local planning authority. Deliberate destruction or damage to a protected tree is a criminal offence and can result in a fine of between £2,500 and £20,000. There is often a misconception that trees subject to TPOs cannot be pruned or removed under any circumstances; however, trees are not static, and remedial or facilitative work can inevitably - and justifiably - be required sooner or later. Woodsage Consulting can offer expert advice on TPOs, from first consultation with the client - to assess if their intentions are reasonable and justifiable – through to preparation of detailed works specification, which can then be submitted to the LPA for assessment.</image:caption>
